Brianne & Michael will be getting married June 27th.  They booked with us over a year ago, and I have already turned away 3 other weddings for this date!  It’s a popular one this year!   They are such a great, fun couple.  Here’s a peek at just some of the fantastic shots from their engagement shoot.  They will be getting married at Our Lady of Mercy, and then enjoying their reception over at the Elks Lodge by the river.  Can’t wait!

Red Carpet Romance – North State Cancer League Benefit Dinner

•February 13, 2009 • Leave a Comment

We were priviledged to be asked to photograph for a great cause – the North State Cancer League held their annual dinner benefit at the Holiday Inn on Hilltop, in Redding. The ballroom is transformed into a feast for the eyes. Each table is decked out like you would not believe by sponsors.   Business from all over Redding and the state donate items and services, for a live and silent auction, and the proceeds go to a great cause.  Wonderful dinner, a live band, dancing, and great prizes to take home.  A wonderful night out for couples.  We also donate every year to this cause and this year we donated a limited edition 30×40 landscape print on metallic paper, with a $100 gift certificate from Picture This Frame Shop for custom matting and framing to complete the piece.  There were so many wonderful auctions it would be hard to only choose one item!

Lauren Zettler – Musician/Artist

I love to support unique, upcoming artists, and I stumbled upon this lovely voice!  Lauren is not only a wonderful soul, but a talented singer, writer, and musician!  Please vote for her newest song for the cayamo theme song contest.   You can vote and hear the entire song at:

http://playitlive.cayamo.com/entry.php?id=1337

This song “Tell Me A Story” by Lauren Zettler goes perfectly along with photography, and it’s like a love song too, so of course I’m a hopeless romantic. ( =  I hope you all enjoy it too!  Take a look at her website also at:

http://www.laurenzettler.com/

This youtube video is a blog/video of her recording and preparing the song.

Words from Lauren:

I have a really hard time writing these things. And I wrote one the other day that I really, really liked – but something happened in this great space that is the internet, and I lost it. :( Here we go again…

My name is Lauren. I’m a girl. I play the guitar. I have a white cat named Lola. I hate static electricity and mosquitoes (who doesn’t?) but I love chuck taylors and guacamole.

I think this all started in a mid-western living room, watching Lawrence Welk re-runs. I guess (I mean I know) it was the girls wearing pretty dresses. That was my first concern. But then they were also smiling really big, singing really cheesy songs…and there was a bubble machine at the end of it all. I was hooked. That was my fate, I decided. I was close.

I took a detour, to Berklee College of Music. It was there that I got scared and brave at the same time. I learned more than I ever thought possible, doubted myself more than I ever had before, and started to truly believe that anything was possible, all at the same time. After graduation, a fleeting bout of practicality led me to New York City, working for one of the largest music companies in the world. I was still operating under the belief system that I needed to act safe, make guaranteed money, and work hard. Looking back, I can see that I only had one out of the three right. After years of thinking it was pretty normal to cry during every musical performance I attended (now affectionately known as jealous tears), I had a wake-up call. An epiphany, if you will. And when it happened, there was no turning back. If I told you how close to a bolt of lightening it felt, you wouldn’t believe me. But if and when you experience your own, you’ll know.

Turns out I had been running away from what scared me the most…and what, coincidently, was most important to me. Once I realized that, it was pretty easy to quit my nine-to-five and start planning. I took a little break to write my first EP, flew out to L.A. to record it, and the rest…is all happening, as we speak.

I believe that everything falls into place if you are following your heart.

So, here’s to hoping we really can be anything we want to be when we grow up.

Check out our RSS feed at http://science.nasa.gov/rss.xml!

I’ll be taking photos as this is one of my favorite hobbies, photographing the stars… I’ll post my results soon!   Update:  Well, unfortunately, we had too much clouds and rain, and no clear shot of the skies on halloween night.  Oh well!  Maybe next time!  I’ll be ready….

The image below is from last year’s lunar eclipse.  This was a time lapsed photo, taken every 5 minutes, then composited together in Photoshop.  It had this cool red orange color… definitely would have worked for a spooky halloween night sky, but wasn’t on halloween. ( =

More about the Kimberly Nicole Boutique in Redding, CA

•October 28, 2008 • Leave a Comment
Here’s a recent article Kimberly wrote.  She is a talented writer as well!  Stop by and visit this beautiful boutique located at 1510 Market Street, Redding, CA.
Inspiration:  Life
By Kimberly N. Woods
Inspiration:  a divine influence directly and immediately exerted upon the mind or soul. Someone recently asked me what “inspired” me to move to Redding.  In a nutshell, I could say that it was the pursuit of my longstanding dream to own a boutique that inspired me to make the move from Southern California to the small town of Redding.   To say that it was my dream alone that brought me here would be a failure to state the whole truth.  Redding, itself, has inspired me.  I have often visited my mom in Redding since she moved here in 2006, and somehow, my mind, body and soul found a home here.  I moved to Redding with my fiancé in May of 2008. The combination of nature, artistic talent and the kindness of the people who live here have shown me that Redding is a place where my creativity will not only be appreciated, but nurtured. This dream of owning a boutique has been with me my whole life.   I was born, after all, in one of the world’s “Fashion Capitals” – New York City.  Southern California then became an influence on my sense of fashion.  Even the vibrant greenery and blue skies of Baton Rouge, Louisiana have their stake in my fashion perspective.  The quietude and peacefulness of Redding have allowed me to hone my attention to beautiful colors and free flowing fabrics.   A touch of avant-garde fashion, a bit of “California Girl” playfulness, a sprinkle of “Southern Bell”, and a smattering of Bohemian Chic – this is the essence of Kimberly Nicole.  Perhaps reflective of having lived in four distinctly different places in my lifetime, I am often inspired to place unexpected color combinations or textures together to create juxtaposition.   You see, my inspiration comes from the places I’ve been, the people I’ve known, the natural beauty around me, the diverse cultures of the world, music from virtually every genre, and conversations that have enlightened my mind and soul.  My fashion sense has, in turn, become as diverse as the many elements of my life experience.  For this reason, I wanted the Kimberly Nicole Boutique to reflect diversity in its merchandise. Kimberly Nicole carries everything from unique and eclectic, and sometimes one-of-a-kind clothing and accessories, to party dresses, to business attire, to everyday wear, to the occasional ball gown. Call it the English major in me, but each article of clothing, every scarf, belt and handbag is individually named for people I have known, places I have longed to visit, sayings that I have heard, and by nature and life itself.  It is my hope that the names of the clothing will be an inspiration to others. Local artists showcase their work in my boutique, as it has always been a dream of mine to showcase the “art” of fashion and promote local talent.  Kimberly Nicole has “something old, something new, something jeweled, and something blue,” which incorporates my love of vintage clothing, new and exciting fashion, jewelry and denim, respectively. Women occupy so many roles on a daily basis.  Why shouldn’t women be able to find an outfit for every role at Kimberly Nicole?   The Kimberly Nicole Boutique opened on July 1st 2008 in Redding’s beautiful and newly invigorated Downtown Mall.  The boutique is an expression of my passion for fashion, art, design and people.  Kimberly Nicole is more than just a boutique.  It is a place that I hope women can come to feel beautiful – it offers “Clothing for the Mind, Body and Soul.”  Anyone can put on a nice outfit and look decent, but what makes a woman truly beautiful is a sense of confidence, a gentleness of spirit, a spunkiness that precedes her, and beauty that radiates from within.   Kimberly Nicole provides honesty and integrity in its customer service, promotes confidence, awareness, intellect and positivity in women, and demonstrates the power of kindness, genuineness and fellowship through example.  This boutique will be a haven for women, a place where they will be seen, heard, and cherished.  I hope to integrate book club meetings, poetry readings, health discussions, fashion shows, community events, charity benefits, music and photography shoots into the bigger picture of Kimberly Nicole.  It is my hope that I will be able to design and create my own clothing line one day.  Although it is just a hunch at this point, “Inspiration” may just have a place in the namesake of the clothing line.   The shelves of the boutique are adorned not only with shoes, decorative bags and exotic jewelry but with books and quotes that will inspire women, or simply provide a good old-fashioned laugh.  The walls are decorated with artwork that showcases the beauty of women, and the clothing, accessories and jewelry come in all sizes, textures and colors.  The colors of the merchandise in the Kimberly Nicole Boutique are mere reflections of the verdant colors embodied by nature and the vibrant spirit of the people in the North State.  These colors have been part of the many elements of my inspiration.  And my inspiration has manifested itself in the form of Kimberly Nicole.

I am so excited to be working with Kimberly Nicole Boutique in downtown Redding.  If you are looking for the BEST of the BEST in fashion, this is the boutique of your dreams.  Not only will you find gorgeous one of a kind, clothing, but everything and anything to go with it!  Shoes, bags, jewelry, scarfs, you name it!  It’s here and it is F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!

My first meeting with Kimberly and Michelle (her mom), was truly a girls night out!  We met at the boutique after hours, and sat and shared stories, and our dreams and passions about life in general.  We clicked immediately!  I can’t say enough nice, heartfelt things about these 2 wonderful ladies!

Kimberly is following her dream, and in doing that her boutique will be a great success!

One of the features of the Kimberly Nicole Boutique, is the “Real Women” project.  This is where I came into the picture. ( =

They would select a “Real Woman” customer in the redding area to be featured in their clothing and beautiful portraits in the store.  Kimberly Nicole Boutique truly has clothing for every woman!

The first woman to be photographed was none other than her FABULOUS mom, Michelle Woods.  Stop by and see the boutique and treat yourself to the best clothing Redding has to offer!  Each month a new “Real Woman” will be featured!  Maybe you could be next!  You can read more about the Kimberly Nicole Boutique, by Doni Greenberg.
